no worries at all mate. hope it works out for you pal.

    keep us updated please

did some more shopping around,  won't be getting any cheaper, so i may as well just deal with the insurance until i've got that first years no claims.

on a brighter note, i've decided it's going to take a whole lot of work (not to mention money) to get my car looking decent, so aside from the essentials, i won't be modding the exterior at all.

I've decided instead to go for performance and give everyone a nice surprise when i leave the rest sat at the lights (to a degree), so i'm wondering, is the best first step a k+n induction kit?

Re: Renault Clio, 1.4 Champs Elysees

what's classed as the essentials for the exterior? what i've done on me prim is coz it's standard but big engine i've de badged it of everything on the 2.0 badges, and stuff. i'd go for the induction kit for the clio, i've gone a bit chavvy with my motor tho coz i've got a alpine window sticker across it but that's just me. what i'd do tho is the k and n induction kit and just get a bolt on exhaust tip for ya exhaust as long as it don't bend tho.

only my opinion nut i don't like tinted windows on red cars, they look strange in my opinion but hey lol

Re: Renault Clio, 1.4 Champs Elysees

Whats wrong with my number plate lol

As for de-badging, normally heat around the badge itself obviously being careful of the paintwork, this should loosen the glue on the back of the badge.  Simply peel the badge off then any remains of the glue of the back of the badge simply remove with fingertip carefuly.  Then t-cut to blend in paintwork.  Good luch hope this helps.

Re: Renault Clio, 1.4 Champs Elysees

cleaned the whole car from top to bottom today in prep for this weekends work. Gonna de-badge everything but the clio badge, go over the entire thing and cover any paint chips etc, then start wiring in my led's for the driver and passenger footwells. Does anyone have any advice about wiring LEDS? I'm fairly competent with wiring etc, just thinking where best to earth the circuit?

Re: Renault Clio, 1.4 Champs Elysees

can't say i know about wiring stuff but as for the de-badging it look a hell of a lot different. have you seen the smooth end of the prim now?took EVERYTHING off the back, took me 2.0i badges off the side and wanted to take me front nissan badge off and then found out that someone had put two locating holes in so it'd mean all sorts of grief so only got 1 badge on whole car now lol. make sure u put pics up as it comes along tho ok mate. have fun and BE CAREFUL

Re: Renault Clio, 1.4 Champs Elysees

ok, have done some research and my plan for wiring is as follows. I'm going to tap the dash illumination wire. So as i understand it i need to

Test that the wire is 12 volt and is suitable to use.

Run a wire from that one to my rocker switch.

Run the positive wire from the LED tube through an inline fuse into the rocker switch

Run the neg wire to a suitable earth point?

Re: Renault Clio, 1.4 Champs Elysees

to be honest i ain't got the foggiest about all wiring. my bro does that for me lol. i'm changing me LED's tho in the speedo, rev counter, etc so they'll look better hopefully. as for locator holes i'm not sure on them either just didn't wanna take the badge off then have holes so luckily was told BEFORE i did that. still it's totally smooth at the back tho now. have u seen the pic of it?

Re: Renault Clio, 1.4 Champs Elysees

don't you think the chassis itself is the best since is insulated by the tires?
