new to turbo's. Q on Anti Lag Systems

I'm new to the turbo realm. with that being said I am currently in process of building an turbo H23vtec for my 92 accord wagon project. I was reading an article on Anti Lag Systems and was reading that there are different set ups. I know the most common is with the rally style cars, with dumping extra fuel for the explosion to keep it spooled. I also read a part about using the motors EGR but it didnt go into detail and I cant find anything on the EGR set up or much of any other set up for that matter. any words of wisdom or direction is thankful

anti lag is complicated if your talking about EGR. what sort of size turbo were you looking at? and what sort of use is the car going to get?
    Put an SR20DET in it...

I do closed circuit and whinding roads primarily. Turbo wise I currently have a T04E t3/t4 at an a/r .50 which I have had for a while from a buddy.

ye want a t2 in that case then. quicker on acceleration and far less lag if any at all. small turbos for closed circuit or big ones for high end and top speeed runs.200sx's only run t2's as standard.

I know the t3/t4 is a bit on the bigger end but figured if I got an A.L.S. working thatd help. If the system is gona be way to hard or just impracticle then I'll prob just run a low shot of nitrous. The closed courses around my area dont have many tight areas but a few fairly long straight aways.

I know what egr is, thusly I'm wondering how it is sum how associated with a way of ALS. I plan on using the h22 m2b4 trans, not gona mess with an H2B plate.

Does the H23 have VTEC?  I thought the 2.3 litre engines (I'm presuming out of a Prelude) didn't come with it.

Re: new to turbo's. Q on Anti Lag Systems

you are right the H23 and H22 are both from preludes. H23 is 2.3 dohc non vtec while H22 is 2.2 dohc with vtec. the H23vtec is a "frankenstein" by using the displacement of the 2.3 while also using the vtec of the h22. usually its the H23 lower with the H22 head and using sum of the h22 accessories. my build is stroking the h22 and a slight bore over, but nothing drastic.

Re: new to turbo's. Q on Anti Lag Systems

Yeah nice one, it's not really a big deal changing the head, ECU and wiring loom, my brother and I did a 2.2 turbo conversion into his EK civic, that was a ball ache I tell you!

Me and him have had a chat about what you're trying to do with the EGR valve, using it as an ALS, and we're pretty sure it won't work properly, you could try pulling the timing a bit to force the turbo to spool in between shifts, forcing the fuel and air into the pistons.

I'm pretty sure that AEM do an anti lag system (I think it's called the EMS), but you'll have to change to coil packs. Give them a tinkle and see if they have anything that will suit your needs.  If you need any more info or help mate, gve me a shout.

    Good luck with the project!

Also mate, just be careful if you're going to use an ALS in your car, you could fuck it up if your engine isn't built, you could overboost in between shifts and knacker it.

Re: new to turbo's. Q on Anti Lag Systems

Ya I took the over boost into mind thanks to sum of my buddies with scoobs. my block is sleeved and I still need to order my pistons and rods. When I was reading about using the egr as an ALS I couldnt see in any way possible how it would work, thusly asking about it on here. but ya I know questions are going to come along an thanks for backin me on it :thumbs up: I've seen sum turbo H's and H23vtecs in civics and accords that are fast. I just wana take it a step farther.

Re: new to turbo's. Q on Anti Lag Systems

Nice one, and in a wagon, it'll be cool as fuck, my bro's new turbo'd Civic should be here by the end of the week, it's only the 2 litre block but it's been worked like a bastard, sleeved block forged everything, but it'll be running only 400 brake, he wants it to be reliable.

The black one he had was a fucking monster, but it kept om blowing seals (running over a bar boost), we had to turn the boost down to 6psi to keep it reliable as a daily driver.

I'll dig out the old post and see what you think, as for the questions mate, fire away, I'll be as much help as can give you!

Re: new to turbo's. Q on Anti Lag Systems

my buddy an I built a "crv-tec" (2.0 block with vtec head)  an got it at 13.0:1 compression an it blew out the sides of cylinder 2 and 3. thing would run high 13s in a drag but literally no traction from 1st to 3rd gear. they r awesum motors. I know everyone usually stays away from the wagons but they are the ultimate sleeper in my book :thumbs up: and plus they are ugly as shit so even more sleeper aspect lol. thanks again buddy
