    Re: Amplifier

I've got an M500 Alpine V12 amp going cheap but it's a mono amp for a subwoofer, so no good to you for speakers.

Do you know what channel means, lol?!

    Re: Amplifier

I need to amp up some vibe component 5" black airs because they sound shite just off my head unit, but im sure the speakers are fucked.

    Re: Amplifier

I guessed that when you said it didn't matter, lol!  A channel is a speaker output, so if you need to run 2 pairs of speakers you need a 4 channel amp, a 2 channel amp for 1 pair or a 5 channel for 2 pairs of speakers & a sub.

Those speakers need to be amped.  Check how many watts they are & then check how many watts your head unit gives out & then you'll see why they sound crap!

    Re: Amplifier

the JBL GTO4000 will be great for you i think.  i have 3 of them in my car an they are great,

    Bassicly...

     600w rms

    300w rms 2 ch bridged @ 4ohm

    50w rms 4ch @4ohm

    75w 4 ch @ 2ohm.

around £50 from most online stores ect.

a good lot of dials to twist to set it up ecaxtly how you want it.  i have 1 for my components and 2 for the subs.

and had no problems. also have an electronic guage to say how the gain is working per bridged channel so 2 in total and looks great when its statrs flashing up anf down the levels.

    defo a best buy.

    Re: Amplifier

From this post and the next post i take it you are running 2 sets of vibe compos off the head unit ???

If so thats why they sound shite , surprised the head unit is still got an internal amp left !!!!!

How have you wired them up ???  4 ohm or 2 ohm load ??

You never mentioned you were runnin 2 sets of compos up front when you were trying to find the lack of volume problem.

    Re: Amplifier

unless he means 4 speakers as in, 2 mid bass an 2 tweeers?

the VIbes have a big RMS so as 'Nearly-Def' says, your head units done well to survive.

Not only that but the head unit is prob knocking out 4  x  20w rms tops   , so a max of 10w rms to each speaker !!!    add on top of that a head unit internal amp loaded down to 2 ohm !!! ( hope you got a fire extinguisher handy  !!! )   also  the THD figures being pushed skywards with the load on the head unit and you have a perfect recipe for a real shitty sounding front end and a head unit on a count down to going bang in a big way.

Please get that front set up sorted asap mate before its   Crying  time !
