Is it possible to modify Renault Clio 2005 1.4 DIESEL? Help? I know nothing

Hi, i am gonna get a Renault Clio Diesel 1.4 2005 reg because it is being offered to me at 50% value no strings.  It is to good an offer to refuse.  What can i do to the car - specific to Renault Clio 2005 if possible.  The first question really is can i improve the performance taking into account it is a diesel? Can i superchip it?  Can i add a stainless exhaust?  I want to put a kit on it but would feel very uncomfortable sticking on a V6 Replica kit say if there is no performance.  Most of the internet suppliers for superchips specify turbo diesel - but a friend told me that most diesels nowadays including this clio would probably have a built in turbo anyway.  Is this true?  And what size of wheels / alloys could i put on this car?  Any information would be great - please excuse my clear lack of understanding on modifying.  Links to dealers supplying what you advise would be great to.

try an hks t51r turbo... and an ARC intercooler.hahahha

serioulsly though,  i believe there is a bluefin chip for that engine. some v6 hubs and brakes will do, a bigger turbo and injectiors will be an improvement. dont forget to map the ecu propperly though.

    Put an SR20DET in it...

Definately!! I miss my Diesel, used to be ace, no one expects a fast diesel heh, all i did was put a powerbox on, big bore exhaust straight through, Custom intake to get some serious air in, just welded it out of mild stainless steel with the tig, dont use anything thinner, as diesels have some fucking serious sucking power! and you risk crushing it, and i managed to fit a bigger turbo onto it (it sounded like a fucking tractor, but boy did it shift!)

yes ! diesels respond much better to chipping and re-mapping due to their higher torque, just had my jag re-mapped via laptop, cost £375, not cheap but well worth it ! but its a petrol, never owned a diesel ! where are you ? the bloke i use is very good !

Re: Is it possible to modify Renault Clio 2005 1.4 DIESEL? Help? I know nothing

The average diesel car leaves the factory using only approx 50% of it's potential, so most diesel cars can get 25% more bhp and 18 to 20% extra torch.

Remap - change of software in the ECU

Chip - usually a plug and play chip that fits between injectors and ECU.

As your motor is 2005 you would have a remap of the software of your ECU.  First of all the software already on the ECU is uploaded and either downloaded with a off the peg remap or sent over the Web to a tuning and software expert who does what you have requested.  Either way the new software is going to change the performance of your motor for the better, and also increase your fuel economy when driven normal.

You can request a fuel economy remap or a performance remap.

It will reduce the engine life, however diesels are so long lived that losing 20.000 off the life of the engine is acceptable.

Your motor is never going to have the kind of performance that is going to worry a scooby, however it will be a much better drive and nippy when you need it.

Check this site, they did mine and very pleased.
